Highway Sign Language

The thumbs up. The peace sign. The hang-loose. The two-handed heart. And the classic, middle finger/flip the bird. I’ve been the recipient of all of these hand signals over the past few weeks as I’m logging hundreds of miles down the highway. The vast majority of hand-made messages are positive, but there are a few impatient drivers who think I’m driving too slow as I merge onto the freeway, and they let me know it. I just smile and wave. The other RVers and truck drivers understand the momentum factor, and so they’re the most generous and accommodating. It’s quite fun to see people’s reactions to Clementine on the road. People love her. On those special occasions when
I see another teardrop trailer (or even another T@B), the enthusiasm is off the charts. There is cheering, hand waving, horn honking and big smiles all around. Traveling alone, these moments of camaraderie lift my spirits in a surprising way. Thank you fellow travelers. You know who you are :-).
